HomeFree-USA One of Select Nonprofits to Receive Grant from Wells Fargo

The nation’s largest mortgage lender provides grant to help nonprofits to sustain their home retention services

(Hyattsville, MD / September 30, 2011) - HomeFree-USA, a HUD-approved housing counseling intermediary, has been awarded $250,000 in funding from Wells Fargo in support of HomeFree-USA’s ongoing work to help low-to-moderate income homeowners to prevent foreclosure and strengthen their financial status.

“HomeFree-USA is thrilled to receive this contribution from Wells Fargo,” said HomeFree-USA president Marcia Griffin. “The need for foreclosure prevention and financial counseling continues to increase while the funding for this work is subjected to the current constraints of the economy. We applaud Wells Fargo and are grateful for its commitment to homeownership and the work agencies like HomeFree-USA do to sustain individuals, families and communities.”

“Financial challenges are building for housing and credit counseling services at a time when consumer demand for their help is growing,” said Kimberly Jackson, executive director of the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation. “Wells Fargo believes assistance provided by housing counselors like Home Free-USA is critical to helping Americans as they face financial struggles that extend beyond their home payments and the country continues to work through the impacts of a challenging economy.”

HomeFree-USA and its nationwide network of community-based housing counseling agencies will use the funds to outreach to at-risk homeowners and give them one-on-one foreclosure prevention counseling and financial education.
