An Innovative Mortgage Lending Model  

HomeFree Funding, Inc was launched in 1997 as a wholly owned mortgage brokerage subsidiary of HomeFree-USA. From its inception HomeFree Funding was designed to close the loop between fully prepared, default resistant homebuyers and their access to mortgage products that reflected their needs and recognized their preparation for homeownership.

HomeFree Funding supports the HomeFree-USA mission by: 

• Integrating the homebuyer preparation process into the loan origination process; 

• Providing a conduit for loan products that are designed to assist clients that  successfully complete the counseling/education process, but fall short of the requirements for conventional loan products (special products are offered by partnering lenders to bridge this gap without penalizing the client);

• Providing technical support and guidance to the counseling/education program to ensure that clients are always on track to meet industry qualification standards;

• Providing technical support to HomeFree-USA’s efforts to mitigate losses for homeowners that are faced with temporary setbacks that could possibly cause foreclose.  HomeFree Funding provides expert advice.   

Since its inception, HomeFree Funding has originated in excess of 1,500 loans in Maryland and the District of Columbia in conjunction with the HomeFree-USA counseling program. These originations have been brokered to primary partners such as Bank of America, Chevy Chase Bank, CitiMortgage and Wells Fargo.
