FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HomeFree-USA Announces “Stakeholders for Homeownership” Roundtable

DC conclave of government, lender, GSE, faith and community-based leaders to discuss achieving success with Obama administration’s Making Home Affordable plan

(Hyattsville, MD) – HomeFree-USA (www.homefreeusa.org), a HUD-approved, nonprofit homeownership counseling organization, today announced “Stakeholders for Homeownership Roundtable: Achieving Success with the ‘Making Home Affordable Plan:’” June 18, 2009, at HomeFree-USA’s national office in Prince George’s County, MD.

In recognition of National Homeownership month, HomeFree-USA is convening the roundtable as an “action-oriented dialogue” to advance the Making Home Affordable plan that will benefit America’s hardest hit communities. Leaders from government, lending institutions, government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs), faith-based organizations, and community groups will attend to discuss:

·        Ensuring the success of the Obama administration’s Making Home Affordable plan

·        Best practices to sustain homeowners throughout the nation

·        Helping homeowners recover from the negative affects of the housing crisis.

·        How government, faith-based, and community organizations can work together to preserve homeownership.

“Homeownership, the American dream, is in a state of emergency. The Obama administration realizes this, but they can’t fix the situation alone. Leaders from government agencies, lenders, our houses of worship, and community groups must join the fight,” said Marcia Griffin, founder and president of HomeFree-USA. “Together, we all can do more to save homes, progress families, and restore communities.”

The event is Thursday, June 18, 2009, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, at HomeFree-USA’s national office in Prince George’s County, MD.
